Streetwise and Metropolitan Police Service Safety Card Project launch
Last week saw the launch of a new partnership between Streetwise and the Metropolitan Police Service. At the London Week of Peace Multi Faith Forum Conference, Metropolitan Police Service Commander Rod Jarmen was presented the new Safety Card Project by Streetwise Project Manager Ashley Lerner.
The Safety Card Project will see 10,000 co branded Streetwise and Metropolitan Police Service safety cards, Oyster card holders and emergency contact credit cards distributed to young people in the London boroughs.
Commander Rod Jarmen stated, "I'm delighted that we have been able to establish this Partnership. It's a good example the way the MPS is able to work with all sections of the community to meet their needs and provide reassurance"
Streetwise Project Manager Ashley Lerner addressed the conference stating the benefits of this project are the "user-friendly and informative messages about personal safety and development which will give advice to young people on hot topics including, travelling on transports, being safe on the internet and the effects and risks of drugs and alcohol."
Both Streetwise and the Metropolitan Police service see the Safety Card project as only the start of the partnership, with future joint projects to come.
Streetwise will be distributing the Safety Card Project at their courses and workshops to all young people in the London Borough. To obtain your copy prior to this please contact Streetwise on 0208 457 2331 or email info@streetwisegb.org. For more information go to www.streetwisegb.org
